Treasure Cay
Old Dunmore Town is Harbour Island’s capital. The melange of clapboard houses on narrow streets, abounding with colorful tropical flowers, are ripe for a photographer’s lens. So is the famed pink beach on the Eastern shore just minutes away from Old Dunmore. read more +
There's a lot of history to take in: The Loyalist Cottage dates back to the American Revolution; at Bay & Murray you’ll come across The Little Boarding House – the first hotel on the island. Further along Bay Street, check out the Sixty-Steps – there’s actually only 16 steps but a convict carved them out of solid rock – very impressive masonry. Higgs Sugar Mill is another Bay Street Landmark. Six ancient cannons hold watch at South Bar, originally built to keep away the pirates that continually raided the Caribbean and West Indies.
There’s no lack of upscale & Bahamian-inspired restaurants – check out the mouth watering cracked conch, grouper, rice and peas or have a Cheeseburger in Paradise at Ma Ruby’s. After taking in the dramatic sunset, check out the World’s Largest Coconut in the VIC-HUM CLUB where you can throw back a couple of Goombay Smashes and shake the night away under the stars to a reggae beat. collapse -
