Not much was happening in Cabo until 1974 when the Mexican Government decided to turn the area into one of Mexico’s hottest tourist destinations. Now Cabo is a sought-after destination for a family vacation, eco-holiday, honeymoon, spa holiday or a singles fling.
dventure seekers will find sports fishing (Cabo hosts the world’s largest Marlin tournament), sea kayaking, parasailing, diving, snorkeling, rock climbing, Wave Runners, Jet Skiing, hiking and horseback riding and, if you have a real adventurous spirit, take a trip up the peninsula and visit the ancient Cave Paintings of the Sierra de San Francisco discovered in the 1960’s. The trek is very rugged, part on foot, part on mule. The paintings are on a private ranch deep in a canyon. The view is spectacular and so are the murals. The place is not easy to find but that’s okay - you must visit with a guide.
Cabo has several world-class golf courses with panoramic views of the mountains and Sea of Cortez.
There’s no lack of dining and nightlife in Cabos. Over 20 years ago, Sammy Hagar established the Cabo Wabo Cantina – it’s a blast! So is the Gigglin Marlin, NoWhere Bar, El Squid Roe and the list goes on. Just an hour north in Todo Santos – an artist enclave – you can wake up in the Hotel California. collapse -
